. . . . . . . . . . . . Play Synopsis

The electronic revolution must have minimized everything down to a tiny mobile text message. But is this a boon or a curse?
The internet chat service has made it possible for people to literally chat with each other across continents, leave alone cities. Is this good or bad?
Though communication is getting revolutionized, we the humans have lost “Communication” in its true sense. We may “talk” but we hardly “listen”. We may chat thru internet, may speak over phone, may send mails, reminders, wishes but do we really “communicate?” do we really “express?”At any point of time do we sit holding hands compassionately, look into the eyes of each other & express what we really want to communicate?
“White Lily & Night Rider” is the contemporary play - a black comedy - of a man & a woman in their 40’s. They are very close Chat Friends involved even in erotic chat. At one point of time they desperately want to meet each other to transform that virtual reality in to reality and may take the decision of marriage.
But when they meet person to person the showdown begins. Any known system of man – woman relationship is unacceptable to them. Neither can they accept the “Sanskars” of the previous generation, nor can they adjust to the thinking of the new generation! For them marriage as an institution is outdated and live in relationship is unthinkable!!
The play raises innumerable questions and confusions about the fundamentals of the relationship & companionship. Does this confusion end with self realization? Are they afraid of reality? Is the virtual reality more comfortable??

Dear Milind and Rasika,

I just saw the play today.. Honestly, it was awesome... More than a question of communication issues in todays world, i felt that this play dealt with more profound and very sensitive issues..
For me, the fact that both of them are very insecure of their age, apprehensive of adjusting with someone new in middle age and the resulting lonesomeness are very well dealt with..That is something all of us come across in our lives at some point of time.. For me, the play's strongest point was this.. the way you guys dealt with different issues of middle age...
in fact, i would say, this play was extremely successful from that view..till now, whatever i have come across ( books, articles, plays, stories, films..) on issues of middle age, wasn't so mature.. and on that, i think this play was very strong..
Congrats to both of you.... Excellent work.. Keep it up.

congrats for the wonderful play.!it is written brilliently and enacted so. this is peek to the life which is changing in a diffrent way. two people unknown to each other are free to communicate that way,but face to face come the reality.this is difficult to digest at the same time people go for it .(new era to communicate and socialise this way.)any way the play was v.nice.

yesterday i saw the play in dombivali. The concept is good & latest, In todays internet world, we all are more busy in social networking & chatting. I am also one of them. The point i liked in this play is writer finished the play in good way, he shown the good & bad point of internet. which i realised personally. Here point is not they marry each other or not the point is even though they are very much comfortable in chatting with each other & when they stay physically they still confused on marriage subject. Also live & relationship is not a right solution for compatibale test before marriage. This is my view on play. The acting of both the actor is too good, natural & i love rasika acting she always expressive.

Following are my observations and thoughts on the play performed in Atre Theaters Kalyan on 31.10.2010-

(1) The story and theme are thought provoking.
(2)But the approach i.e. dramatisation is not upto the mark.
(3) The approach is not serious enough that the thema and story demands.
(4)The concept of sexual competency and daily routine competency are supposed to be relevent only in Management and in pathological conditions of patients in Social sciences.
(5)Marriage is neither a life nor a story to be defined or gaurded by Sciences of any kind.
(6)The intellectual analysis of Marriage as institution and sectarian phenomena is an excercise for entertainment of brains but not a subject matter of heart and mind.
(7)The great epics of Ramayan, Mahabharat and Greek epics besides Shakespear have all underlined the complexities and in- comprehensivability of human life of which Marriage and sex are indivisible parts.
(8)Therefore, it is futile though appreciating attempt that the drama has made.
(9)Nevertheless, I believe that you could have given better justice the the subject, if you had had better casts for the two characters. The serious bearing with lighter moments blend in both the characters could not touch the chords of my heart. The dialogues which fetch clapping are indicative of not so much of spectators' mind as of their formalities.
(10)In view of above,,I with my 3 relatives who had been watching and studying the show failed to understand the justification of as many as 20 Awards for the play.
(11)Nevertheless, we can not deny and do not deny the courage and apt and precise timing for bringing out such a complex and thought provoking subject on the dias of theater.

Hi Rasika & Milind
Congratulations for presenting the best play. We like the show so much that we met you in Kalyan on 31st October 2010.
We like the subject of the play that Compatibilities are most important in relationship. Actually every couple who are in relationship & getting married should watch this play. The play proves that this new generation is actually living in this style. I like the end of the story that you both put the “?” to viewer what they want to do in such relationship should they go ahead or stop.
Thanks

Dear Milind & Rasika,

well done! it's one of the best concieved and executed scripts ever. the audience never has to face a boring spot/period. moreover, the story is well built and strong with its synchronised emotional highs n lows. i'm sure that every person who has sat through this entire play connects with the characters and the story at some point or the other.
my favourite:- the end, when both of them lay bare their lives and agree to disagree.

i hope you guys come out with more such incredible scripts.
god bless, take care n keep smiling.
aditi.

the play was extremely bad. the set showed the apathy existing in the marathi play industry. to bear only 2 characters for the whole show was extremely demanding and tiring. the english accent, particularly, of the female character is in very poor light. above all, the whole theme seemed very amaturish. all seem to be totally confused and have no clue whatsoever to the realities of life and to be well equipped to face them in the right way. ultimately, if u want to depict to find a solace in the one's Dream world itself, what purpose would the play achieve?

Hi Rasika and Milind,

I saw this play on 17th may 2011. I was extremely pleased to watch it. Liked the concept.Your pauses, your detailing, your acting between the lines; everything was excellent.Your timing and your reactions were supeberb.

I am a senior citizen and I could see that all the senior citizens present in the auditorium enjoyed the play; Though I think the young generation enjoyed it the most as they are more acustomed to computer and mobile (ref:template)

I was very sad to know the grieva
nce and loneliness of the unmarried men and women and that today, everyone lives in (and is happy to live in)one's own shell. There is lack of communication due to today's fast and mecanical life.

There were tears in my eyes at the end of the show.

Thanks to both of you for writing, directing and performing such a wonderful play.

Tumachyakadun ashach eka sundar natakachi apeksha karu ka? Dev tumhala udand ayushya devo!

Hello,
I saw your play yesterday (28/06/13) at ravindranatya mandir.
The play started 30 min late, and the anger among the audiences was quite visible as a few had started to raise voice. But it all vanished when the play started. The 1st half was light while the 2nd half a tad too serious. The play dealt quite well with a sensitive issue and was brilliantly written and enacted.
Keep up the good work! :)
